Wrapping up Wednesday

Lots of "stuff" today, and it was all good.  Molly and Steve got to NW early, only to waste time....the big "hurry up and wait" syndrome of medical care.  Steve had the BEST spinal tap (is that like the best root canal?) of the 6 taps...then had to wait 45 minutes for an onco fellow to show up for the chemo push.  He has been known to text message during a spinal tap.  And you think *I* have issues?

Dr. Altman wanted to see him in clinic for one final inspection pre-admit.  Kind of like when the pilot does the aircraft check pre-flight.  Tires:  Check.  Jet fuel:  Check.  Sawl-ted peeeeenuts:  Check.  Wouldn't be easy with Pilot Jessica Altman.  Steve was told that "everyone respects her, but everyone is afraid of her."  Love THAT.  Dr. Altman made the trip down from Heme/Onco  to IR recovery to give him the once-over.

His biospy was COMPLETELY CLEAR of leukemic cells last Friday.  Not a few.  NONE.  Reppen Airline, Flight 813, this is Control Tower Altman.  You are cleared for take-off!

My interview went well, at least it felt good.  You never know.  I liked all three people in the group from U of C, and it will be a good fit if it happens.  Best part of the day:  Great parking space, stellar parallel parking skills, and I got there early and felt prepared.  Sharing some pictures of the incredible architecture in the Ida Noyes Hall Building.

Had a wonderful dinner at my Mom's house, pork roast, YUM!

  2. Thanks, Lynn!! I think pictures are nice to add to a blog, and putting in some non-medical tidbits will keep people from getting grossed out or bummed out when we have rough days. I try to take life a little slower, too, and the camera is a good way to facilitate that process.
